in audience of one nicola unger works with the present audience. _audience of one is inspired by jeff wall's movie audience

up until now i made work where audience and performer are strictly separated, often by having the audience sitting on a tribune and observing the performer on stage. _right now i am interested in blurring the borders here: how much can/should an audience participate in a performance?

in audience of one i attempt to 'borrow' the shadows of single audience members and turn them into characters/performers with very basic features. _sometimes people decide to play along or even take over the piece, sometimes they are more frozen. _i want to explore the moment of 'who is watching who' and the individual in a group and find out what an audience of one could actually be.

the piece is work in progress and still in development. _in 2014 further shows will follow, a.o. in warsaw in the international animation & puppetry festival [nu]
